APD investigating shots fired near Temple Israel of Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Police Department announced they are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon. The incident took place near the Temple Israel of Albany. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Police say no injuries have been reported and that one person was taken into custody. Police said a man fired two shotgun shells near the Temple. The incident resulted in the temporary lockdown of nearby St. Peter’s Health Partners facilities. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Police Chief Eric Hawkins announced they will be holding a press conference at 4:30 p.m. Stay with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.

Colorado AG Phil Weiser files lawsuit opposing NCAA transfer rule

By JOHN RABY and AARON BEARD (AP Sports Writers)CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A federal lawsuit filed by a group of states that includes Colorado alleges the NCAA’s transfer rule for college athletes violates antitrust law.The lawsuit, filed in West Virginia’s northern district, challenges the NCAA’s authority to impose a one-year delay in the eligibility of certain athletes who transfer between schools. The suit said the rule “unjustifiably restrains the ability of these college athletes to engage in the market for their labor as NCAA Division I college athletes.”The lawsuit filed by West Virginia and six other states alleges violations of the Sherman Act. Fontana street vendors accuse city of violating their civil rights

Street vendors have filed a lawsuit against the city of Fontana for allegedly violating their civil rights.The lawsuit stems from a city ordinance passed in October that allows officers to arrest and charge unlicensed vendors. Some vendors say the ordinance is discriminatory.This ordinance, meant to crack down on unlicensed street vendors, is now under scrutiny as a lawyer claims it is unlawful. The lawyer filing the governmental tort claim alleges that the city has engaged in discriminatory practices targeting street vendors. "Succession" and "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" star Alan Ruck is being sued by one of the drivers he allegedly hit in a Halloween night crash in Hollywood.According to the lawsuit obtained by KTLA, Horacio Vela was waiting at a red light at the intersection of North La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard when Ruck’s Rivian R1T "abruptly and forcefully accelerated" into the rear of his Hyundai Elantra.Security camera video shows the Hyundai lunge into the intersection where it hit another vehicle that was making a left turn onto La Brea.Ruck’s Rivian, meanwhile, careened across Hollywood Boulevard, striking another vehicle before crashing through the wall of Raffallo’s Pizza. According to TMZ, actor Alan Ruck's Rivian collided with the back of a car in Hollywood and eventually slammed into the wall of a pizza restaurant. Bay Area pilot accused of trying to crash plane is released from Oregon jail pending trial

A former Alaska Airlines pilot and Pleasant Hill resident who allegedly tried to cut the engines to a passenger flight while off-duty and in a cockpit jumpseat has been released from custody, according to media reports out of Oregon.Joseph Emerson had been in custody at the Multnomah County (Ore.) Detention Center since his arrest following the Oct. 22 incident aboard Horizon Air flight 2509 from Everett, Wash. to San Francisco.Emerson was originally charged with endangering an aircraft and 83 counts of attempted murder in the incident. This week, an Oregon grand jury indicted him on the endangering charge, and replaced the attempted murder counts with 83 counts of recklessly endangering another person.He has pleaded not guilty.Judge Thomas Ryan said Emerson was free to travel back to his Pleasant Hill home but that he was not allowed to fly. Tabard Theatre finds new venues for shows after losing its lease

It was a mad December dash for Tabard Theatre, which announced last week it had lost the lease on its San Pedro Square home and then scrambled to find new venues for the remaining lineup for the month.Fortunately, the valley’s arts community was ready to help, and two groups, StageOne and San Jose Stage, picked up several of the remaining shows.StageOne will host “Le Perez: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” on Friday at 8 p.m. and “Blues Is a Woman” on Saturday at 8 p.m. at its studio space at the Corinthian Event Center building at 196 N.
