It appears, beyond brief warming—first in the south suburbs Wednesday—then over the city and remainder of the Chicago area Wednesday night and Thursday—that we're entering a cooler than normal period overall in the next 2 weeks. What's more, if there's another 4-day run of 80s to come in the coming two weeks, it's not showing up yet on the constellation of models we examine as guides to our forecast preparation each day. It seems safe to say—at least this point—that we NOT likely to see another 4-day run of 80s such as the one which occurred last Wed-Thu-Fri and Sat—any time soon. Spanish PM apologizes over sexual consent law reform loophole

In an interview published on Sunday (16 April), Spain's Premier Pedro Sanchez (pictured) apologized to victims of sexual assault over a law against sexual violence that contained a loophole that allowed at least 978 prisoners to have their sentences reduced or terminated early.The "Only Yes Is Yes", which was a law that was enacted partly in response to the public outrage caused by the so-called Wolf Pack Case centered on consent. Its purpose was to settle cases where defendants had been convicted of a lesser crime, sexual abuse, because the victims did not resist out of fear.Some perpetrators who were convicted prior to the law's implementation have been able to obtain reduced sentences or an early release.The General Council of the Judiciary, the highest body of judges, announced last week that 104 prisoners had been released earlier than scheduled as of March 31 after the October law passed."Some of these reviews or releases are not final. Warsaw Ghetto Uprising commemorated on 80th anniversary

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Presidents and Holocaust survivors and their descendants are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising on Wednesday with a poignant sense that the responsibility for carrying on the memory of the Holocaust is passing from the witnesses to younger generations.The anniversary honors the hundreds of young Jews who took up arms in Warsaw in 1943 against the overwhelming might of the Nazi German army. There are no surviving fighters still alive. Marek Edelman, the last surviving commander, died in 2009. He remained in Poland and helped keep alive the memory of the revolt in his homeland. Simcha Rotem, a fighter who smuggled others out of the burning ghetto through sewage tunnels, died in 2018 in Israel, where he settled.The small number of surviving witnesses today were mostly children at the time of the revolt.
