Glens Falls-based Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks has been named Agency of the Year among the nonprofit's small and midsize agencies. In 2022, the chapter served 463 children, with 200 on the waitlist. HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Calling all pet owners! A pet food drive will be held on Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hudson Shop-Rite at 351 Fairview Avenue. The pet food drive will be held in collaboration with 92.9/96.5 WBPM and the Columbia Greene-Humane Society/SPCA (CGHS/SPCA) Pet Food Bank. Bill Williams, mid-day host on WBPM 92.9/96.5, will be in attendance as well. The Food Bank is available to any family that is having trouble feeding their pets because of financial hardship. CGHS/SPCA gives away 50,000 lbs. of free food every year.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Between the 23rd and 30th of August, State Troopers made six notable DWI arrests around the Capital Region. State Troopers reported three DWI arrests on the night of August 23. The first arrest was made following a two-car crash on I-87 in Chestertown. One of the drivers, Logan R. Mitchell, 26, of Schroon, was arrested for DWI and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Mitchell recorded a 0.18% BAC, issued tickets returnable to the Chestertown Town Court, and was released to a sober third party. Charlie Brown is the self-proclaimed “Tomato King” of Denver (and had T-shirts made up to prove it).The former Denver city councilman has been gardening for 50 years and currently has 165 plants growing in his backyard garden that wraps around his ranch house near Observatory Park.But “it’s not easy growing tomatoes in Colorado,” he said. After some hail and a lot of cool and cloudy weather in June, followed by consecutive 95-degree days, Brown said this has been “the worst season I’ve seen in a long time.” Brown has a produce stand outside his home every Saturday and usually sells around 1,000 pounds of tomatoes every summer. So far, he’s only been able to sell around 200 pounds.
