Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey is sounding off against the harassment of witnesses in the ongoing, high-profile murder case involving a woman accused of killing her boyfriend, a Boston police officer, last year. In a video statement posted online, Morrisey said of the witnesses, “To have them accused of murder is outrageous. To have them harassed and intimidated based on false narratives and accusations is wrong. They are witnesses doing what our justice systems asks of them.”“We try people in the court and not on the internet for a reason,” he continued. “The internet has no rules of evidence. Environmental police monitoring area in Kingston after bear shot for attacking goat

The Massachusetts Environmental Police responded to a report of a bear that was shot after attacking a goat in Kingston on Friday, officials said.Officers responding to a report of a bear attacking a goat around 3 p.m. learned the owner shot at the bear while trying to protect the animal, according to police.MassWildlife also responded to the area and officers determined the bear had an injury to one of its rear legs but was able to move on into the woods.The area will be checked again on Saturday and the area will be monitored over the next several days to make sure the bear is able to care for itself.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A beloved Las Vegas neighborhood peacock named Pete was killed with a hunter’s bow and arrow, and authorities are trying to find who was behind it.Animal Protection Services officers are investigating the death of the peacock, which belonged to a resident in a small gated neighborhood but had come to be accepted as the neighborhood pet throughout the years.Felicity Carter, a neighbor, said she found the bird Monday against a fence with an arrow sticking out of him.
