INEZ, Ky. (AP) — Crews were working Wednesday to rescue two men trapped after the collapse of a more than 10-story Kentucky coal preparation plant being readied for demolition, officials said.The collapse was reported around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Martin County Sheriff John Kirk said first responders were able to find and make contact with one of the two men, news outlets reported. Officials didn’t know the extent of their injuries.In a social media post Wednesday morning, Gov. Andy Beshear said he had declared a state of emergency in the county — mobilizing state resources to help with the rescue. The plant hasn’t been in use for several years and the men were salvaging material from the building when it collapsed, Kirk said. The men were on the bottom floor of the building when it collapsed, trapping them beneath tons of rubble, Kirk said.Several rescuers were inside the rubble as part of the rescue effort, Kirk said. A pedestrian is dead after they were struck by a vehicle in Mississauga on Wednesday morning.Police were called to the area of Lakeshore and Orchard roads, just west of Dixie Road, around 7:20 a.m. for reports of a crash.A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.A Jeep involved in the collision remained at the scene.Lakeshore is closed in both directions west of Dixie for the investigation.This is a developing story. New oil leak reported after a ferry that repeatedly ran aground off the Swedish coast is pulled free

STOCKHOLM (AP) — A ferry that had ran aground last month off southeastern Sweden and started leaking oil into the Baltic Sea was pulled free on Wednesday and anchored nearby, the Swedish Coast Guard said. During the operation, another oil leak was discovered, which the authorities described as small.The Marco Polo, operated by TT-Line of Germany, was operating a route along Sweden’s coast between the cities of Trelleborg and Karlshamn when it grounded on Oct. 22 and started leaking oil. Man, woman shot and killed while sitting inside vehicle on South Side

CHICAGO — A double homicide investigation is underway after a shooting on the city's South Side.The shooting happened around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 8300 block of South Dorchester. Police said a 19-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were inside a parked vehicle when they were shot by two offenders, who then fled the scene on foot.The man was shot multiple times in the chest and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The woman was struck once in the torso and was transported to the same hospital, where she was pronounced dead. ISP releases footage from Springfield State Trooper shooting No one is in custody.
